Does an EX6100 - provide any protection as a "travel router"?

Hi all
First post so please be gentle.
I will be away doing a course for 8 weeks and whilst the (cheap) hotel room I have rented has Wi-Fi I am concerned (but know little about) Wi-Fi security.
Does using my EX6100 between the hotel Wi-Fi and my devices provide any security, it works great at home but that is through my Nighthawk AC1900?
Should I be looking at purchasing dedicated "travel router".
I liked the look of the N300 however it looks like it has been discontinued and Australian stock is non existent. Any plans from NetGear to come out with a new "travel router" - I like to keep things simple & compatible with one brand?
Thanks Peter E.

The EX6100 does not have a firewall, so it does not provide any security. Purchasing a travel router would help in this regard.
