EAX12 doesn't see and won't connect to my 5ghz network

I'll do that today. I also did verify that my phone can connect with a strong signal via 5Ghz to the router from the same point where the extender is.

OK, using WPS, the AX1600 (EAX12) connects to the 2.4Ghz network only and this is with the extender in the same room as the router, so I am sure it is not a signal strength issue. I am only getting a 144Mhz connection using 2.4 and with this being a repeater, I get only about half that in my connected devices. Surely if I could get this to connect via 5Ghz it would surely be better (wifi6).

    So log into the extender using its ip address and get a screensnip of its status page

        Try factory resetting the primary router and the EAX and reinstall them. Maybe something is off in the primary router
