EAX80 - 5ghz weak signal when using 5ghz 160HT mode on RAX120 router
I have an RAX120 router and just received an EAX80 range extender. Upon setup I noticed that when I have AX Enabled w/2.4 & 5 ghz OFDMA enable + the 5ghz mode (up to 4803 Mpbs (11ax, HT160, 1024QAM)selected on the router, My 5ghz signal on the range extender drops to 1 bar signal strength (red) with ~108Mbps, but still an availabe wireless mode of upto 4800Mpbs. If i change the router 5ghz mode to (up to 4803Mpbs (11ax, HT80, 1024QAM) then the signal strenght returns to all bars (strong/green) with ~1441Mpbs, however the wireless modes drop to 2400mpbs. This happens wherever I place the Range Extender. I put it in the same room as the router ~2ft away and the same thing happens,
Is there anything that can be done to resolve this issue. I bought the range extender for HT160 support, but it appears i am not getting what i payed for....
On a side note, if I disable AX it appears to work with HT160 (good signal, showing 4800 wireless mode, however, my wireless speeds drop to about ~30-50Mpbs from ~300-600Mpbs
1gb download(~945Mbps) / 45Mbps upload - comcast Internet using a CM1150V modem

Re: EAX80 - 5ghz weak signal when using 5ghz 160HT mode on RAX120 router
Now it is dropping WiFi signals all together and some devices are not even able to connect. I am returning it and going back to using my EX8000 Range Extender. This RE is a piece of garbage.

Does anyone know if Netgear plans on fixing this issue? I'm so confused on how their site is showing good reviews for this product when it clearly doens't work. I've gone through 2 of them, and have had the same issue.

I am having the same issue, but mine is connected to the RAX200 - This is just not a good extender if it is dropping connections all the time on the link between the two.
I submitted a warranty claim to have mine replaced.

Re: EAX80 - 5ghz weak signal when using 5ghz 160HT mode on RAX120 router
Equipment...
RAX120
EAX80
Centurylink 1gb internet connection
Setup using a Windows 10 PC with Chrome broswer
Wifi Analyzer App from the Windows Store
...The Nighthawk app setup on my Samsung S5e tablet does not work correctly. I used the install assistant from the RAX80 through Chrome on a Windows PC.
‐--------
I confirm the same problem and flaw in the EAX80. The EAX80 does not fully function at 160hz.
Setting the wifi mode to HT160 on the RAX120 yields only seconds of 4300mbps+ on the EAX80 then drops to 108mbps with a red router link lIght on the EAX80 extender.
The EAX80 does not fully function at 160hz
‐-------
The only working setup I found:
Setting the RAX120 5ghz mode to HT80 will get the EAX80 5ghz connectiion to the RAX120 working at up to 2400mbps with sustained connections.

If i turn on HT160 on Rax120, the speed test on my Eax80 is only like 30ish Mbps(500+ Mbps in HT80 mode).... Fix HT160 function please!!!!
