EX2700 as direct connect Access Point from Router?

I'm trying to connect my EX2700/N300 directly (hardwired with a CAT5 ethernet cable) to my CenturyTel dsl modem/router via the N300 ethernet port so as to use the N300 as an access point for my router's WiFi. A previous discussion here suggests that "all extenders can function as wireless APs" though I may be reading that wrong.
I did open a support case with NEATGEAR to ask if the N300 could do this and they said "yes" but couldn't provide setup or config steps.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: EX2700 as direct connect Access Point from Router?
I don't specifically have this one. Saying that, all my research shows it doesn't work as a wired AP. You'd need to go up a series for this function. The ethernet port is only for connecting a computer/wired device requiring internet to it.
The post you linked to stated all extenders can act as a wireless ap meaning they connect back to the router wireless and act as an access point. Not wired access point. its in the 3rd post at the bottom. I'm not sure why support told you it would function as a wired AP. Maybe it was a misunderstanding in what you were trying to do.
If someone else has this and has gotten it working somehow, please correct me. 🙂

Re: EX2700 as direct connect Access Point from Router?
Thank you for the reply. In my support case converstaion I did spell it out (written in the submission while on hold) and communicate it verbally a couple of times but agree communication lapse is possible. I even asked them if I needed to buy some other product and they said that the EX2700 N300 would do it.
I am more than happy to buy the correct piece of equipment and just need to know what that is and how to config/set it up.
Would "going up a series" mean the EX3700? Or something else?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Look for "FAQ". When I did
that, I found the following:
Can I connect the extender to the router or access point with an
Ethernet cable?
No. The extender is designed to use WiFi to connect to the router
or access point.
Doesn't sound to me like a mystery.

Re: EX2700 as direct connect Access Point from Router?
Thanks but Idealt with the easy stuff first and did the search (and found that answer) before I opened my support ticket. That's part of why I took the time to call them. Again, one of the questions I asked the support agent was if I needed a different Netgrear product to do what I want to do. The response I got was that the EX2700 would do it and I didn't need something else.
Appreciate the feedback

RT*M please EX2700 User Manual, p.40
FAQ
...

No. The extender is designed to use WiFi to connect to the router or access point.
...
Any previous replies and the information from support is wrong - except that e.g. the EX3700 does allow this configuration.
