EX6150 signal hand off to iPhone not happening
I have a Comcast Internet router with Wi-Fi which covers the inside of the house nicely.
I also have a Netgear EX 6150 range extender positioned in a window facing the backyard to cover that area, because once I go out there with my iPhone, the Comcast signal fades to nothing.
The problem is that when I go out, It’s necessary for me to go to settings on my iPhone and manually shift to the XXXXX_EXT wifi instead of the phone automatically picking up the nice strong signal from the extender.
My iPhone IS configured set to automatically change to the strongest Wi-Fi signal, and it does just that when I travel around town.
So my question is: Why doesn’t that happen with my extender
at home? What am I missing?

there are 2 versions of the EX6150
Version 1 was NOT a mesh extender. It didn't have the smart roaming capability. (its EOL)
Version 2 was a mesh extender. It could use the smart roaming/single ssid function.
What version do you have?
What firmware is on it?
- RcalusineAspirantThe device has all kinds of info on the back EXCEPT version, from which I have to conclude it is version 1, because at time of release they would not have known that there was going to be a version 2.
Anyway, thanks. I’ll see if I can get a version 2 and try again.
