I am having no luck with 4month old extender it was a set up as a accsess point I believe it had been hacked I did a hard reset on the ext made a new network with tuffer password then it stoped working at first all light then amber light on power steady now it about a week and half later working on it it is a slow blinking green power light. I have tried updateing the firmware with no luck as it needs to connect to the extenders network. Any help would appreciated

Your power light is blinking?
Usually indicates a corrupt firmware.

If its within warranty, you can contact support about an rma.

To get a hold of support. Click on "MyNetgear" at the top.
Register an account (or login) and then the device.
From there you can start the support process. Keep in mind that its only free for the first 90 days.

Or you can try recovering it with tftp or nmrpflash.

are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10

and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash
