Re: EX7000 no internet connection
Looks like I don't have anywhere near enough IT knowledge to work this out. I wouldn't know how to identity a malformed DNS request if it hit me.
But I'm happy to help with any testing- just let me know what I can do!

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
so the router logs show nothing interesting, i still think that it may be failing to reach a site to verify access but i cant identify it.
what if (its a big if) the site used to verify is now ip6 only, my provider does not support ip6 for residential customers (Telstra, Australia)
you can test using this link
you can also see by checking the ethernet properties of your network card, probably another long shot

My provider in the UK evidently does not support it at this time.

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
There are not many ip6 only sites from what i can tell so its not an issue yet but i am just trying to identify a common denominator. From what i can tell there is some tunneling trickery that goes on to support this and perhaps somethings gone astray, still a long shot and i am sure someone with better networking skills would have a better idea

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
Same issue Virgin Media in the UK does not support IPv6 and sure this is not the issue anyway. Did have a look on my Netgear R8000 to see if I could bridge IPv4 to IPv6 but you cannot, only the other way around and not going to help you.
I still think it’s a call home feature at firmware level and could be as simple as a security certificate has expired at the Netgear end but would expect to see a HTTPS request go out on the firewall logs and I could not see this but that does not mean Netgear may filter this out for us not to see this?
Answer other posts – I have Kaspersky Total Security 2017 for AV and Windows 10 Creator Edition for desktop and Laptop but also same error message on Android tablet version 6.

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
yeah i think the whole ip6 thing was a long shot but running out of ideas. i was going to say something about what do you expect when you use an internet providor that does not go all the way 🙂
i can also see nothing on my router logs, i cleared them first so i started with a clean slate but so far nothing useful.
i am surprised by the lack of answers from Netgear as this may well be something very simple

Re: EX7000 no internet connection

('body').msgload(); $('body').msgshow("Checking the Internet connection; please wait …"); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "ajax/get_internet_status", data "action=getStatus", dataType: "html", success: function(data) { if (data != "1") { $("#title_string").html("<i class='icon-errormark'>"); $("#title_string").append("Your access point has no Internet access. Check to make sure that your router has an Internet connection."); $("#cc_red_cross").addClass('redCross');

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
I GOT IT!True, it is related to IPv6. In my router FRITZBOX 7490 gives it the possibility to join them. And my IT provider supports them as well.
IPv6 support IPv6 support IPv6 connectivity Native IPv4 connection (recommended) First, a native IPv4 connection is established. If a 6RD server has been learned via DHCP, a 6RD tunnel is established. Otherwise, an attempt is made to establish a native IPv6 connection (dual sta
Thanks to all and much success!

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
All devices always well connected, without signal or speed drop. (1 PC with Windows 10, 1 PC with W7, Smartphones with Android).
And then I did not look so often at Netgear genius. Then I have on my PC Windows 10 updated to the latest version, as I noticed: no internet connection, although Internet was always there! When exactly has this happened and why, I do not know unfortunately

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
Just read my router doc - they have instructions for creating the 6RD tunnel. I'll try it tonight and let you know if I have any success

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
I configured my R8000 under advanced setup IPv6 set 6 to 4 Tunnel and yes, the EX7000 can now see the internet - no more error message, no reboot required instantly worked.
My ISP does not support IPv6 so regardless of this working Netgear especially for the UK need to still set IPv4 as the default!
Netgear we have found the answer to your problem now can you fix this please. I must be honest though I am still not happy with the call home feature anyway and we should have an option to turn this off. If not this extender is going to end up on eBay in the next few weeks.
Well done to everyone involved if you have a support call outstanding then need to point them to these posts.

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
DRCharlesFobin - I still like the 6rd tunnel this may be a better option interesting though I set IPv6 to auto and it liked IPv6 to 4.

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
I cannot get 6rd running ISP does not support. So could leave it in IPv6 to 4 but ISP does not support this but it does seem to work?
I could not get Netgear Genie working and able to log into the router befire changing IPv6 to 4 setting and now I can!
So Netgear have gone full IPv6 but not all ISP's can support this so still need to fix this issue.

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
Or should we who are less skilled be better if simply wait for another firmware update?
(Given that there is almost no loss of functionality - apart from the EX7000 itself not being able to check for and install its own updates, so users will have to download and manually, via the R8000 in my case, install any future updates)

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
i agree, great result and well done to all for taking the time to investigate. sadly my Telstra Cable modem does not seem to give me many options to fix this but i understand native support is around the corner and in the end for me it still works, i just have an incorrect status screen on the access point.

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
Well, I set up a 6to4 Auto Tunnel on my router, no difference - still blocked. I either have to relay it - anything but 2002 requires a seperate relay - or try a 6rd.

Re: EX7000 no internet connection
if it helps - try this link. It's confusing to me too - and I'm in IT - not the network side though. The main to keep in mind is that it actually does function - this is just an annoyance.
