EX7000 with Freebox player on Ethernet port
Hi everyone,
I'm Nicolas, I'm French, and I'm new here.
My ISP here is Free, and I have 2 boxes : the Freebox Server is connected to the phone line, providing the internet, while the Freebox player, in another room, connect to the first one, getting the TV stream. This connection can be through CPL (electric wires of the house), or ethernet.
My house beeing old, CPL doesn't work effectively.
When I connect the Player to the Server through an Ethernet cable, it works fine. But having this wire running all through my living room is not a long term solution.
Getting to the point :
I just bought the EX7000 extender, with this plan :
connect the extender to the Freebox Server through WiFi
connect the Freebox Player to the extender through it's Ethernet port, to get the TV stream via Server-WiFi-Extender-Ethernet.
Thing is : it just doesn't work.. the two boxes seem to see each other, but they don't associate, as if they're talking to each other but can't hear what the other is sayong..
I use the device as an extender, not an access point.
I just upgraded the firmware to the latest version.
I saw another topic on this issue, but it's closed :
If someone can help me, Thank You very very much... 🙂

Re: EX7000 with Freebox player on Ethernet port
Hello nicolasmorin78
I do not know anything about the Freebox system but have you tried to connect any other type of device to the ethernet and see if the internet works?

Re: EX7000 with Freebox player on Ethernet port
Hi,
Quick update, after a few days of digging through a lot of forums.
The Freebox Server and the Freebox Player seem to communicate through a vlan, and need to be connected either through the CPL plugs, or through a direct ethernet cable.
They're not compliant with this extender, or with any of this kind of device.
I asked my vendor to take the product back..
Thanks,
NM.
