I currently run a XR500 as my main router with a backhauled CAT6 to the EX8000 as an access point. The 5ghz on both use the same SSID and have worked quite well for seamless switching with mobile products such as phone and iPads. Some of my smart home devices (ie; Ring Dorbell) closer to the EX8000 will connect to the XR500 and cause disconnects going back and forth.
Since the EX8000 has three bands would it cause a problem to keep the 1733mbps 5ghz band the same SSID as the XR500 to keep the seamless "mesh" and use a different SSID for the 866Mbps 5ghz band to connect the stationary devices?
