EX8000 very slow connection

Hi

I've got a Nighthawk RAX80 router which shows speeds of 380Mbps down and 35Mbps up. So, it's doing a great job.

However, I have a garden studio outside, 25 metres from the RAX80 and I manage to get 2Mbps now and again, with a weak signal.

So, I have purchased the EX8000 extender. I have tried two different locations - one inside the house at the back and one actually in the garden studio.

I only manage to get a download of 50Mbps and upload of 25Mbps, so a dramatic difference. On the Nighthawk app, it shows that there is a strong connection, so why is the Mbps so severely throttled? The connection can suddenly drop as well.

I'll be running virtual classrooms so I need a strong and stable connection. I have contacted Netgear Support but sadly they haven't been a great help. Passed me on to 3 agents and then cut me off.

Any help you can provide, in simple terms, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rich

Wifi range depends greatly on the building. Some materials are excellent at absorbing wifi.

Is the studio on the same electrical mains circuit as the house? If it doesn't have its own fuse box and trip switches, you could see if Powerline Ethernet could act as a wired ink between the router and the access point.

An EX8000 in access point mode would be inherently faster than as an extender/repeater.
