I have tried everything. I have reset the router multiple times, tried to connect using mywifiext as well as using WPS. Both ways will get me to the point where the wifi extender is set up, but once I try to connect a device, it won’t connect to the internet. All lights are green. No VPN connected. I have looked on multiple forums and can’t find anything to help. Do I just need a new extender?

One thing to try is after its setup, log into your router and check its attached devices page. See if the extender is connected here and what its ip address is. Use that ip address to try to connect to it.

The EX2700 is a WiFi extender, You have to connect it to a router, and that has to talk to the outside world through a modem of some sort.
Both of those can get in the way. You certainly have to get them working before you add the extender. What are they on your network?
While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

It’s an xFi gateway. The extender was working for months until there was a power outage and I wasn’t able to reconnect it since. Have tried rebooting the gateway to see if that helps and it doesn’t.

I think that did it. Got the IP, logged in, the automatic firmware update indicated it was updated (not sure if that was the case). Manually uploaded the newest firmware file and went through the smart setup again after it rebooted. I can connect again and am getting internet finally. Hopefully it continues to work!
