HELP! - am lost in the community -

I'm trying to find my way through this community and could not find a place to enter my question in the right topic. So, hope you can help direct me -
I've been using this netgear extender for 4 years and today got a new pop up window tellng me I have to log into mywifi .. something, something, something - and asking for a name and password. I can put in the default name and password - admin and "password" - and try to reset it, but when it looks like everything is good, it pops up again - don't know what name and password it is asking for - the extender name doesn't work, nor does my name, or the name of the network I'm extending.
What's up with that? Also wasn't able to open the page that has the phone numbers to contact netgear support - I've got limited wi-fi snagging a neighbors to try and find the solution. Hope you can help.

Hello Choice
I would suggest to try to factory reset the extender by holding down the reset button for 10 seconds this should put it back to the defaults. After that you can log into the extender by using admin/password and go through the setup.

DarrenM - I already reset it to the factory reset and logged in with admin/password, but it would not finalize - would not respond to the connection and would just pop up with the original message window. I tried it several times.

Hello choice
Make sure a pop up blocker is not stopping it and even try another web browser.
