Hello, I am trying to set up an AX1600 as a wifi extender to my closest Wax610 access point. The nighthawk app finds the Wax610 powered network ok (both 2.4 and 5) but when I enter the wifi passwords (same for both), it comes back with 'Incorrect Password'. I have tried it with mesh turned on and off in the Wax610.
The AX1600 claims 'Works with your existing WiFi' but I can't get it to work. Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong or any other setting I should try on my Wax610 (I am on Insight) or if not how do I change settings on the AX1600 when it won't let me connect?
Thank you!
Andrew

Factory reset the AX1600 and install it with the installation assistant and not the app.
To factory reset, push and hold the reset button for 7-15 seconds while powered on.
Here's a video of how to use the assistant.

Re: I can't extend the wifi signal of a WAX610 with an AX1600 Wifi Extender
OK it seems to indicate that it has worked this time (no password error!):
However I checked for a firmware update and it says:
So is it set up correctly?
Thank you!

what firmware version are you on? You can manually log in and look and upgrade if needed.
You might be getting the "no internet" because you're using business grade access point. I don't know what setting you're using on that or your main gateway.

Re: I can't extend the wifi signal of a WAX610 with an AX1600 Wifi Extender
OK even though it says it's connected to he Internet - it is not as when devices roam to it, they have no internet access. So unless there are any other ideas then no, you cannot extend a Wax610 network with an AX1600 - despite on the box it saying it works with your existing wifi (which is also netgear).

Re: I can't extend the wifi signal of a WAX610 with an AX1600 Wifi Extender
so you're a little caught.
You're using commercial grade access point with who knows what else that its connected to managing your network.
Things like vlans, access controls, or other managment can prevent network/internet access. So you'll need to start checking into whatever is managing the networks user controls.
You've got it connected to the network so the extender is going what it can. Now its up to whatever is managing the network (and it'll be the same with other extenders)

Re: I can't extend the wifi signal of a WAX610 with an AX1600 Wifi Extender
Understood. It's a quite simple Wax610 x 5 network APs powered by a GS316PP, a standard out of the box setup with standard settings. So yes I suspect it is a setting on the Wax610 devices, hence my query. It's a shame Netgear have zero documentation on this topic - I guess as you say they don't want you mixing less expensive consumer devices with the more expensive business ones.
