I just bought an EX7300 extender to use with my Nighthawk R7000P router. It advertises "mesh features" with the latest firmware (which I installed) but I am unclear what those are supposed to be or what the recommended configuration is for that.
As it is, it has been a bit unstable and required a restart after the 1st day. It also does not seem to want to connect to my 5Ghz network - only the 2.4. Also - since I am using the same SSID, how can I tell whether my device is connecting through the extender or directly to the router?
Try to factory reset the extender go through set up with it beside the router. After setup move it to the location that you want it to be. And with a mesh setup, you wouldn't really know which one you are connected to.
