My access point device is loosing configuration when turning it off
Hello everyone.
After upgrading Nighthawk X6 Tri-band WiFi Mesh Extender with
- Hardware Version: EX7700
To
- Firmware Version: V1.0.0.226
- Downloaded from
- https://kb.netgear.com/000064648/EX7700-Firmware-Version-1-0-0-226
When I unplug from power or simply turn it off from the power button, it looses configuration and I have to start again setting it up.
If I downgrade the firmware to previous version:
the config issue is fixed.
The reason I upgraded were the security enhancements provided by the latest firmware.
Does anyone has experienced this issue?
Is there netgear going to do something with the latest version to fix it?
What the recommendations are? Keep the previous version and turn off the auto updates?

Did you try a factory reset after the firmware upgrade?
sometimes old settings can cause issues. A factory reset can sometimes clear that out.

I did this today and it still looses the configuration on power failure or when unplugging it from the electricity.

maybe there's an issue with the firmware. you can try downgrading a version and see if that helps.

Re: My access point device is loosing configuration when turning it off
HI guys,
Having the same problem with an ex7700.. Actually have 2 of them, both on same FW but only 1 of them is Factory Resetting on an ever more frequent basis... Twice in the last 3 days....
Both are on 1.0.0.226 but have just downgraded the suspect one to 1.0.0.210 to see if it fixes the problem... Its a serious pain the in ass having to resetup the extender on a regular basis....
Running an RAX50 as primary router and 2 ex7700 off it to blanket the whole house, garage and garden.
Has anyone definatively gotten to the bottom of this, there's dozens of posts about it on line? Has anyone from Netgear responded to anything?
No other issues with any other devices where this is plugged in.
