N300 wireless ext has wrong network name

We had our extended connected to a belkin router a few years ago and now have a NETGEAR router. When I try to log into the extender, the network name is still belkin_ext and I can’t log in because it says I have the wrong password. I’ve factory reset and got it to say the correct network but once I hit the WPS button as instructed, it switches back to belkin_ext network and won’t let me log in due to the password. Any ideas how to get it to connect to the right network so I can actually use it?

Thanks!

Here's what I'd do and the order I'd do it in.

    1. Factory reset again. Push and hold reset while its powered on for 7-10 seconds or until the lights change

    2. Set it up via the smart connect wizard instead of wps.

    3. don't use the wps for setup.

the support site for the ex2700 has videos of using the smart connection wizard. As well as a manual, firmware, etc.
