Is an extender better than using a 2nd router? I have a WNDR4500 but in the basement it doesn't cover the entire house very well. I was just going to get a 2nd router but then saw the range extender so thought I should check it out.

Keeps the wpa2 encryption to connect

Look into Powerline technology (check Amazon). Way cool. Plugs into wall next to router and then runs the internet through your electricity. I think Linsksys or Netgear makes one with a wifi adapter at the other end too.
