Net gear extender 6150

I recently purchased a net gear 6150 extender, set it up using nighthawk and tested the speed. The results show 13 megs download and 21 megs upload. The router, about 10 feet away, is sending 480 megs download and 22 megs upload. Any suggestions about howto improve the download speed.
