Netgear C7000v2 and EX6400v3

I am using AC1900 (model C7000v2, Firmware v1.03.08) in my home but the wifi signal was not making back to one of the rooms we use for streaming movies so I purchased the EX6400v3 (firmware V1.0.3.32) extender.

Now I can get signal back into the room, but the streaming movies (especially Amazon Prime) are pixelated, in that the video is not consistently clear.

Also I do work from home and occasionally my calls drop when the extender is in use, in addition my kids tell me the internet will simply lag when using applications like Facebook.  If i pull the extender my home office and facebook issues, go away.

I called Netgear support, but apparently my free support time is passed. What she did mention is that I may need to change router config, but would not go into detail, just wanted me to sign up for service contract.

Hoping to get some advice of what may need to change.

This is how to disable the mesh function:

Then you simply set it with a separate ssid.

Its easy enough to know if you're connected to 2.4ghz or 5ghz if they have different names

Re: Netgear C7000v2 and EX6400v3

Are you connecting to the 2.4ghz or the 5ghz?

2.4ghz is much much slower and sensitive to interference. Its not the network to use for streaming.

If it was me, I'd setup the EX6400 and disable its "mesh" or "single ssid" function. Leave it as a separate network so you can connect just the devices that are further away to it.

Thank you so much for the information, followed some very easy directions and this seems to of solved the lagging issue with extender to router.
