Netgear Nighthawk

OK so virgin media supplied router is trash and everyone is saying to change. I purchase a Linksys WRT32X great unit but no parental controls. Get told that the Netgear Nighthawk. has a think called Genie which is great so i buy the router only to find that Genie is no longer valid and the new app does not have parent controls (or i cant find them) unless i sign up to a app called circle which the free version only give limited controls....

I just need to turn my sons access to the internet off at 2200 every night or he wil never sleep 

There must be a easier way than me having to turn the whole modem off which means i cant watch netflix etc 

Someone tell me how to do this please without having to fork out more cash
