Netgear WN300RP not connecting to internet

Hello everyone, I am new here and I am not very good at networking. My problem is I bought this product Netgear WN3000RP wifi extender as my router was not having WPS option I configured the extender manually. I followed all the instructions very carefully and I configured the extender all the lights are glowing but whenever I connect my iPad or my laptop to it, all things go well but when I open the browser and enter a URL it keeps on loading and at the end the browser says the server stopped responding. . A few days before it was working in a very good condition but I switched off my wifi for a little time through gateway of router then this thing started happening. PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!!

THANK YOU

Re: Netgear WN300RP not connecting to internet

Restore the extender to default factory settings and set it up while you are more or less next to the router, follow each step carefully (think most people miss the approach requested on the last page of the setup).

while you are at it, i would change the channel on your router from auto to something else, it may have switched channel during your reboot and that might be causing the problem.

The setup went easily, using option #2, all the way to the end but failed to connect the extender to the existing router. Called tech support, went thru the setup two more times still not connecting. Tech suggested to return the product to Amazon. Amazon was quick in sending another WN300RP. Went thru the setup again. No problem until the end - still no connection between the extender and the existing router. Then, I read the Netgear comment carefully: If Access Control List (ACL) is enabled in your existing router, please make sure to add the below MAC address to ACL:
Extender MAC Address is xxxx
Your wireless adaptor MAC addres is : yyyy
So, I figured that this must be the controlling factor. I called Comcast [my existing router] tech support. Their Level 1 support cannot work this problem. Even their Level 2 is not able to support and referred me to their Xfinity Signature Support. 1-877-443-3596. After confirming that I am renting the Xfinity Router/Modem combo, they said that I am entitled for free support but still they had to route me to their specialist at 385-215-8038. There, the tech got my permission to gain direct control of my laptop and accessed the router and made sure the Netgear Extender is appearing on their “Connect Proucts List”. However, the tech was not able to make the final connection. I figured that he was running into a conflicting situation that he was connected on existing router yet he must connect to the Extender network. So, I disconnected him and reset the extender, re-setup the extender. This time it worked all the way through!! [Still, at the end, there was some confusion that I must somehow restart up the browser to demonstrate that the extender is connected to my PC and the Extender is also connected to the existing router]. Now I get the full strength signal at far end of my home away from the Comcast router. 🙂 🙂
Anyway, it was my mistake not to read the Netgear coment carefully. However, it was just as bad that the Netgear tech support never even asked me about it.
