NightHawk EX8000 Issue
Hello!
I bought one of these yesterday and it seemed to be working fine. Today I have tried to wire my laptop into it via LAN to ensure the connection is as good as possible and now I have issues! The connection seems to be dropping between the EX8000 and my router although the EX8000 seems to think everything is fine! If I try to connect to my router directly then it can't find it and there is no internet connection.
A reboot on the EX8000 fixes the issue for perhaps 30 minutes then it drops again.
I guess the same was happening yesterday but when on WiFi the devices could revert back to connecting to the router if the connection was down.
The only similar issue I could find on here resolved the unit was faulty, is there a way to check that with mine?
Thanks!
Michael

Re: NightHawk EX8000 Issue
what router is it connecting to?
What firmware is on the extender?
did you try a reset and reinstall? If its a new devices, there was probably a few autu-updates that loaded.
Did you setup via wps or via the installation wizard?

Re: NightHawk EX8000 Issue
Lots of questions! 🙂
The router is a Virginmedia Hub 3.0
Firmware is V1.0.1.206
I haven't done a factory reset but have unplugged for a while, worth doing a factory on it? How do you do that?
I used the wizard from my iPhone
Thanks!

Re: NightHawk EX8000 Issue
What I'd try doing?
supposedly the virgin hub has an add client option to use during setup.
I'd also disable the mesh function on the EX8000 and use a seperate ssid for the extender.
I know you said you used the wizard for the setup, but I'd run it again using the setup I mentioned.
You're not the only one who has issues with the superhub 3.0 and adding extenders. and its not just limited to netgear.

Re: NightHawk EX8000 Issue
Hello!
I can't find anything about a client option on the Hub 😞
I'm not sure that changing the mesh function will help when it is a LAN issue, not wifi?
I will try running the set-up again though as you suggest, how do I perform a factory reset please?
Thanks!

Re: NightHawk EX8000 Issue
Hello!
So I did a hard reset and set everything up again including turning off the mesh function. I am still getting the same issue where the extender connects to my router fine for a while then suddenly drops out. At that point I can't ping my router any more and no internet is available but the status screen seems to think it is still connected fine. A reset of the extender can fix it for perhaps 5 or 10 minutes then it drops again and anything on LAN to the extender loses the internet.
Any more ideas or is this a faulty extender?
Thanks!

Re: NightHawk EX8000 Issue
This kind of sounds like the setup is clashing with a same named network. Have you made any changes to the main feed coming from the router?
Another thing to try is putting the extender into smart mode. This might fix things if your laptop is trying to jump between 2.4/5g. Might also help in the process of reseting the wireless without reseting the router.
