Nighthawk EX7000 keeps disconnecting and is weak

So I've had the EX7000 extender since February 2019 and it's been awesome up until yesterday. Yesterday our actual router cut off for some reason (probably weather or something) but we were able to restart it and set it back up to normal. However, from that point in the afternoon up until the present, the extender is keeps disconnecting from my phone. Although it doesn't disconnect from my laptop or ipad, it seems spotty. It's placed on the opposite side of the house as the original router but they are connected by an ethernet cable (My room is on the opposite side and I need the full speed of my router so this was the best option); when I run a speed test, the extender is getting the full speed of my router so the spottyness and disconnections don't make sense.

 

I did some looking around online and was able find a firmware update on netgears website. I logged in to mywifiext. net and was told there was an update available and so I updated it to no avail. I've seen some people say to try and downgrade but those articles/posts were some time ago and I'm not sure which version to downgrade to, I'm not even sure when I last updated my extension before today and again, I've never had an issue before.
