Nighthawk X10 as main router and Nightahwk X6 as AP need help

I have a x10 as my main router and am suppose to be getting 300mbps down and 20 up, Im using my new x6 as a Wireless AP and it seems like it is slowing down or messing with the network, as ive noticed once i unplug it that the speed goes up, should i change ip settings ? or what am i doing wrong please ?

Ive changed the name of network of x6 to the same as the x10 and went through setup with normal settings

Do you have the latest firmware? Have you tried a new ethernet cord?
