Nighthawk mesh x6s wifi extender won’t let my Xbox one to connect

Hello. I can not get my nighthawk x6s WiFi extender to let my Xbox one connect to it. My Xbox keeps trying to connect to the router upstairs while I have my extender in the basement trying to help. The extender tells me my phone and family member phone is on the nighthawk network. How do I get the Xbox to work with the nighthawk extender?
