Do I have to have both adapters plugged in to extend wifi to another room in my house
Model: PL1000|PowerLINE 1000 adapter

I'm not sure how you're planning on extending wifi as the pl1000 doesn't have integrated wifi. I take it you mean the plw1000?
If so, then yes, you need to plug them both in as the one unit hooks to the router and feeds the signal to the wifi unit.
