Questions regarding EX8000
Hello Netgear Community!
I am new to the networking scene, but am loving it all so far. I have set up a basic network in my house with a modem/router, patch panel, and switch so that ethernet could be ran to all of my non-portable home devices like TV, FireTV, consoles, and gaming computers.
For my modem router I have the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 (C7000) and I have loved it. Hands down my favorite modem/router I have used, I have been extremely impressed with its reliability. With that being said, the house I just renovated still has old bones, and I imagine quite a bit a plaster and other WiFi-dampening materials. My Router covers the area around it surprisingly well (this includes the main living room, kitchen, and front reading/living room), but the bedrooms are a little different story.
I have 300down/30up connection, and when I have three bars on WiFi I can normally get speed around 250-300 (this being in living room, kitchen, etc). But when I go back to the bedrooms, it drops, sometimes not even connecting in some spots, and when it does connect it normally bounces between 0-100 (not awful, but the lack of stability is what kills it).
I was looking into getting the EX7000 as an AP, but I noticed that with this the AP is its own separate network - meaning that the client would basically have to decide which WiFi network to connect to. I wanted to avoid this as one of my roommates works from home and frequently has to video call - I would like to give him a drop-free experience inside the walls of our house. With that being said I have turned by sights to the EX8000.
My only question - can I still maintain the same drop-free experience if I connect the EX8000 by running a Cat 6 cable to it? I would just rather have the speed/reliability of it being over ethernet than picking its signal up from the router, but I didn't know if this would mess up the ability to be relatively drop-free when roaming the house?
Thanks in advance guys!

Re: Questions regarding EX8000
Hello sagomezjr,
Welcome!
To answer your question you will have a better drop-free experience by connecting the EX8000 with a cat 6 cable. The structure of a home will dictate whether how often/if there are any dropped connections. Give this setup a try and let us know how it works for you!
