Hello All,
As stated I have the AC1900(R7000) Nighthawk and the EX8000. I have been running then together for about a year without any issues, been great actually.
Last night I decided to update their firmwares and now its a cluster mess in my mesh.
- You can tell when you connect to the extender now because immediately you lose connectivity or it runs like garbage until it does drop you.
- If I disconnect the EX8000 power, and everyone connects to the R7000 everything is back fine.
- I did a reset on both devices after the upgrades and reconfigured them as necessary
- I can tell (at least) the EX8000 is acting weird because I have a hard wired Pentair Pool system plugged into it and now it won't work as long as its plugged into it, even though the Software (website) and the lights all swear its working and has a solid connection to the main router (nighthawk). But not a chance.
Before I rollback the firmwares, I looked into some other peoples issues and they seemed sort of the same in some cases, but I didn't specifically find any suggestions that I haven't tried, so figured I'd toss out a 🙂 direct request for help.
R7000 - V1.0.9.64_10.2.64
EX8000 - V1.0.1.192
Both have Smart Connect on (although I tried it with it off as well).
I appreciate any thoughts and if you have any questions please let me know.
Cheers!

I would start with your R7000. The .64 version of the firmware has been known to be a bit unstable. for those who get it working correctly they usually have to do this: Reset back to factory prior to update, update over ethernet, reset it again after update, and manually do your install. this has usually given the best results. You can try resetting it and seeing if it helps or you can try to roll back the update. The most stable version I've seen in the forums is the .42 firmware.

Re: R7000 + EX8000 Issues since last night after upgrading both firmwares
Just to add a little more
The big issue as I see it is that although the EX8000 clearly shows it has 2 connections to the Main Rounter (R7000), and it shows that my cell phone is connected to it at 520Mbps, I cannot actually browse the internet.
The status of it shows I am completely connected and everything should be ok, buy it isn't.
Anything connected directly to the main router is just fine...
Oy...
