I’d like to push WIFI to an upstairs room. Will this device:
Can this device connect to the RAX500 so that the extender will use the same addresses as the router?
I see a reference to this ability in the installation instructions for the EAX15 however that extender has “Mesh” in its title and I don’t see anything in the instructions that says the main router has to also be called Mesh. I don’t think the RAXE is a mesh router. This was a pretty expensive router so I won’t be replacing anytime soon as long as it keeps working.
If this post belongs somewhere else I’ll gladly delete and repost in the right place.
Thanks,
Pete D

Yes, the extender will use same SSID name and password as the RAXE has. I believe you can tell the extender to broadcast same SSID name as RAXE or broadcast the SSID with EXT in the name. Up to you.

Re: RAXE500 to EAX 15 Extender using same address as the router, possible?
Two devices can not occupy same IP address. This is a conflict in connections. So each device has it's own IP address. When an extender gets connected to the router, the router will give it a separate IP address to the extender.

Re: RAXE500 to EAX 15 Extender using same address as the router, possible?
OK…. The setup instructions for the extender references a One WIFI Name feature. This is followed by a display of the main router AND the extender sharing the same SSID names. The wording is unclear. It looks like this is a feature that one would simply enable on the extender. Is this a mesh feature and my question attempting to use the RAXE500 here is a square peg/round hole situation?

I also see where I goofed in my nomenclature when I asked my first question. My question related to SSID and NOT to “addresses” like I originally posted. My bad.

Re: RAXE500 to EAX 15 Extender using same address as the router, possible?
Got cha.
Ya same SSID will be used by the extender. It's just repeating same SSID name from itself in the remote location where the extender is placed.
