Using a LAN port to boost wifi range

Hi

I need to extend the wifi range in my kitchen where I have a spare LAN port, which is connected to my router. I'd like to use this to boost my wifi, rather than a simple wifi range extender. Two questions:

1) Is the possible? And, if so

2) What's the best product for this?

My routher is a D6400.

Thanks.

Re: Using a LAN port to boost wifi range

Use a range extender with support for AP (Access Point) mode.  Among Netgear's range of extenders, avoid the EX6120, EX2700 and WN3500RP, because they do not support AP mode.  Check the online manuals to be certain.

Alternatively, you may use a second router.  Many models have an AP mode setting for easy setup but models that don't can also be used with a few steps (i.e. disable DHCP server, set static IP address, use LAN port).
