WAG102 AP Mode slow connection

Hey

I do have two WAG102 Routers, which work as Accespoints, to conect two floors.
I also connect my laptop to this Routers wireless.
My problem is, that when both routers run, my connection speed to the internet slows incredible down, (When I download a file, my download speed comes up to about 20kb/s)
When I disconnect the client Access Point, (which is on the first floor), my download speed goes up to 2MB/s

So, can somebody maybe give some hints, where I can start searching for the problem?

Have a nice day and thank you

I do have two WAG102 Routers,

product is an access point and not router 🙂

when both device is configure to connect WIRELESSLY (repeating) you will loose the performance in half so expect slowness

When I disconnect the client Access Point, (which is on the first floor), my download speed goes up to 2MB/s

2MB/s= 16MBps so you are getting low wireless connectivity. if this at where second WAG102 is disconnected tested then you would assume when 2nd WAG is enabled and wifi devices connected, it will be 1Mb/s max so 20kb may be bit slow and 1MB/s will highest with given result you gave.

also half duplex will also a factor too.

rather using repeating, extender can going the existing network so makes better performance such as wn2000rp , wn300rp,

Re: WAG102 AP Mode slow connection

Hey
Thanks for your information.

When I change to 2x WNDAP350, will there be the same problem?
May I have understood something wrong to my hardware situation?

My situation is as following:

First Floor
Internet -> VPN FVX538 -> WAG102 (want to purchase WNDAP350)
Second Floor
WAG102 (want to purchase WNDAP350) -> GS108T -> Ready NAS / Playstation/Nintendo WII/REELBox

Isn't this recommended?

THX for your tips!

Re: WAG102 AP Mode slow connection

Hey

I am sorry, I think, I don't understand it at all at the moment.
There is a knot in my head.

Let me ask in an other way.

Can I use the WAG102 or WNDAP350 in a "Router Mode" and connect the second one so, that it will work without having pass through problems.

Or do I have to use an other hardware as "Sender" (Which would be the best for this? - For both)

Re: WAG102 AP Mode slow connection

if you want best performance use CAT5 ethernet cable to the 2nd AP

Re: WAG102 AP Mode slow connection

Hey

WHAT? - I think we are talking into different ways...

I have to connect the second floor by Wireless to the first floor.
I can't use a cable!

So that my NAS can communicate to the Internet. But also the Wireless range has to be extended, because the WAG102 which is on the first floor does not reach all space on the second floor. (This work should do the WAG102 on the second floor)

And I want to upgrade the hardware, because I want share videos in my home.

Hope this clears a bit...

I would use power line devices to make more solid connection.

repeating for streaming is a bad idea 🙂

Re: WAG102 AP Mode slow connection

Hey

OK - I can't use Power Line, because we have different "Power structure" in this building.

So, I have to use a Wireless device. - Please tell me, which you would prefer.

Re: WAG102 AP Mode slow connection

repeating does degrade the performance so either put stronger antenna if need it and use WN200RP/wn3000rp extender and hook all wired at remote end.

Re: WAG102 AP Mode slow connection

OK
I think, I understod now.

An additional question to the WNDAP350 would support Point-to-point wireless bridge mode.

Wouldn't this be a possibility as well?

Re: WAG102 AP Mode slow connection

you can do point to point and may able to use higher encryption

on repeat and point to point usually proafe AP device can handle better encryption. you need to security standing point to but should be okay
