WGR614V9 repeater with WPA

Hello,

I'm having wgr614v9. I would like to use the repeater function using WPA security.

I already had one unit and i purchased another one to do so. When i tried to setup it I noticed that the newer item has newer firmware which doesn't support WPA in repeater even when the older firmware do support.

I read that WEP security is very vulnerable thus I want to use WPA.

What should i do? I assume that i cannot downgrade the new unit to older firmware?

Sincerely,
Eran.

  • Thank you for replying.

The reason i purchased another unit of wgr614v9 is that my previous unit support WPA in repeater mode. It seems that newer version of firmware removed this ability for unknown reason.

I have older unit which allow this and new unit which doesn't allow this.

Can I downgrade the firmware version of the new unit?

    Eran.
  • Different firmware will not make any changes to repeating that uses WEP
