WGR614v9 as Range Extender
I have a WGR614v9 that I am trying to setup as a Repeater using a Linksys WRT120N as my base router. I logged into the WGR614 and made the SSID, security, and channel the same as the WRT120N. I also changed the IP address so that WRT120N=192.168.1.1 and WRG614=192.168.1.2. I then click on the Wireless Repeating Function and enter the 192.168.1.2 IP address and enter the MAC address of the base router. When I click Apply and my computer tries to re-establish a connection it automatically assigns a new IP address and I can no longer access my WGR614 router. I always have to do a factory reset at that point. The address it automatically assigns is a 169.254.x.x series which I know is an attempt at a private IP address. What am I doing wrong here? Any help is appreciated!
