WN3000RP local access only on Vista computer

I have a wm3000rp range extender that I have been using successfully for some time. I recently moved things around in my house and the laptop running Vista that used to connect thru my router now has to go through the extender. I cannot get it it connect wirelessly. I can run a cable to the unit, but that kind of defeats the purpose!

My iPads work fine, so that's why I think it's a compatibility issue either with Vista or the wireless adapter.

It's an HP G60 with an Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter

Any suggestions?

  • I'm not going to say because your B/G adapter is your an issues because all wifi should be backward compatible but your extender is also more newer 802.11N base which can cause issues/

Not sure your main router is 802.11N but also remember not all devices will be 100% compatible so in combination of main router is 802.11N and extender is 802.11n but chipset of both unit could be differ which may effecting your 802.11B/G adapter to connect on extender.

So end result is this may be compatible issues and/or also maybe encryption you are using could be also an issues
