N300WiFi Range Extender has been installed for some time without problems.
Now cannot connect to Virgin media hub network. It appears to be locked out (password protected symbol) but showing OPEN as opposed to secure.
Unable to progress further because extender cannot connect with the internet?
I'd appreciate any help on how I can find a solution to this.

Re: WN3000RPv3
Extender stopped working so moved closer to the hub - no change
Installed extender in the same room as the hub - no change.
Reset factory settings then followed up with WPS button to connect to existing WiFi network. LED flashes through sequence & then stops. LED does not light solid green. Nor does the router link LED illuminate
I can operate the Client link LED from my mobile but no connection to WiFi.
I'm afraid I can't tell you much more. The NETGEAR EXT symbol on my laptop shows OPEN with a password protected symbol above.
Probably just coincidence but received a win10 upgrade around same time as extender failed

Re: WN3000RPv3
Not sure if you received my latest reply.
Followed sequence - entered address in the browser. No new extender setup page shown
The page headline says "You are not connected to your extender's WiFi network."
So no further forward

Re: WN3000RPv3
so hardwired into the extender and shut off wifi on your laptop/pc while you're going through setup. it ensures you're connected to the extender.

Re: WN3000RPv3
Connected an ethernet cable between extender and Virgin hub.
Turned WiFi off on laptop
Pressed WPS on extender. LED blinks.
Within 2 minutes pressed Pair WPS button on the hub . Lights illuminate but dont flash
Still no connection with the hub
Also reset hub. Same result

Re: WN3000RPv3
connect the extender to your pc. not the hub.
connected to the hub, it'd need to be setup as an access point.

Re: WN3000RPv3
Did you try factory resetting?
Pushing and holding reset while powered on for 7-15 seconds?

Re: WN3000RPv3
Success.
Thank you for your patience in this matter. Without your help the extender would have ended up in the trash bin.
Is there any limitation to the number of netgear extenders I can have on the WiFi network?
I have a dead spot so an additional extender should do the job. Can you advise on the current extender I should use?
Once again many thanks

yes and no. the problem with extenders is that they have to receive and then retransmit. That cuts their bandwidth in half and increases latency. Add another extender at the end of that chain and its bandwidth is less than 25% of original.
If you add another extender, try to go like this:
extender--------router--------extender.
not like this.
router--------extender--------extender.
Either way, I usually recommend people more to a full mesh system like orbi if they're needing multiple extenders. Its more seamless, better performing, and less prone to issues.
