WN3100RPv2 - much slower data transfer through wifi from extender than wifi from main router
Hello all,
my wifi configuration looks like this:
NETGEAR genie shows signal strength is 144Mbps. The band used is 2,4 GHz.
I can't resolve the issue, that when I connect my laptop to gkwlan network, the download speed from the file server somewhere is around 4 MBps, and when connected to gkwlan_ext, download speed from the same server is around 1,5 MBps at most. Why it's so much slower, if Netgear genie shows, that it's connected with main routher with 144Mbps signal speed?

Hi @grzego80,
Status which shows 144Mbps is throughput of it. But internet speed will vary based on what you download and from where. I understand that you were able to get download speed of 4Mbps from main network, but 1.5Mbps via extender. Do check for firmware upgrade if any for extender, modify wireless channels that will be better for your environment and position the extender in better line of sight.

Re: WN3100RPv2 - much slower data transfer through wifi from extender than wifi from main router
Hi,
extender's firmware is upgraded to the latetst one. I have made another test: I moved extender to the same room as main router. It was plugged into the wall socket about 2meters from main router. So the distance between these two devices was very short. Even then, when connected to the wifi network from main router, download speed from specific server was like 3.6 MB/s. But when connected to the wifi netowrk from extender, download speed (same server, same file) was around 1,8 MB/s.
For all performed tests I performed, channels with less devices were used (channels were chosen by the main router).

No changes, unfortunatelly. But I've asked on another forum, and it seems, like this is normall extender behavior, as it must send and receive signal with the same antenna (or smth like that).
