I want to set up the WN3500RP so that it is connecting to my router using 5ghz only. The 2.4ghz is problematic on my modem router. I have had to drop it 54mbs to get it work at all. So I have regular connection problems. The WN3500RP seems to prefer connecting with 2.4ghz where it can which is a nuisance.
I have been able to do this on my AC1200 through the set up wizard but cant seem to figure how to do it on the WN3500RP.
I don't actually use WN3500RP as a range extender . I use it as a wireless access point for a smart TV that only has 2.4ghz and not 5ghz.

I found a setting. The WN3500RP has an option to connect to the router with one band and SSID broadcast with the other band. That setting fixed my problem.
