WNDR3800 + WNR2000v3 as Access Point
Hey Everyone,
(noob here, so please be gentle 🙂 )
I recently purchased a WNDR3800 to replace my WNR2000v3 as my main home router. I want to pull a wire to the other side of my house and use the 2000 as an access point to extend my wireless range. I set up my 3800 just fine and did a full reset of the 2000 (pin in the red hole reset). I then configured the 2000 wireless network to be the same as the 3800 (sid, password, etc) and then hit the "access point mode" button on the 2000. I then hooked it up like this:
internet -> cable modem -> 3800 wan port then 3800 lan port -> 2000 wan port
It seems to be working, but it is hard to tell. The 2000 does not appear on the 3800's network map, but I can turn off wifi on the 3800 and wifi still works, so I assume that it is flowing through the 2000. I cannot access the 2000 directly either through wired or wireless connections.

Both unit are access point device. Both are wireless N routers
You do NOT post based on network type, post the model you own
If you need to post on ONE thread on either URL below you wish
WDNR3800 http://forum1.netgear.com/forumdisplay.php?f=120
WNR2000 http://forum1.netgear.com/forumdisplay.php?f=33 ( do not click any other model categories)
REPOST ON EITHER URL BUT NOT BOTH:)

Hey,
Thank you for the reply!
I am sorry you were unable to provide answers to any of my questions. Based on the information I have provided, which device is more likely causing the issue? I would like to post in the most helpful forum possible.
Thanks again and have a great day!
Phade.
