Way lower speeds from router that is connected for more range

Not sure how to word this but I’ll give it a shot , so I have my main router in one of my bedrooms and I have another router connected accross the hallway in another room to extend the coverage around the house , on my main router I’m getting download speeds of 50mbps and upload of around 20 mbps , but on the one connected for coverage I’m only getting speeds of 15-20 mbps download and more or less the same upload as the main router , would greatly appreciate any help thank you .

Re: Way lower speeds from router that is connected for more range

Way more info needed.

1. What routers are these?

2. Firmwares on them?

3. How is the 2nd router connected? wired/wireless?

4. If the 2nd router is wired in (ideal), is it in AP mode?

5. What modem are you using?

6. What is your housing materials? People just look at distance but brick, concrete, hvac, adobe, plaster lather all do great jobs of blocking wifi signals

7. How are you testing these speeds? Wired/wireless, website
