When will ex8000 support wired hackhaul?

When will the ex8000 (Netgear Nighthawk WiFi mesh extender) support wired hackhaul?

I’ve searched through many forums and boards on this, but I’ve seen no recent updates on the topic. I’ve read ‘answers’ in the past from Netgear support saying that “it will be enabled at some point in the future via a firmware update” which is one of the reasons I own the ex8000. Thanks in advance!

It does support a wired backhaul. I've used it hardwired in.

But it doesn't run in mesh mode with the wired backhaul.

Thanks for the reply. I should have clarified- my wish is to run it in mesh mode via wired backhaul, not as a wired Access Point.

My concern about wired AP is the lag between handoffs, whereas mesh does a decent job detecting and swapping to the stronger signal quickly and on its own.

Do you notice a delay and/or do you ever need to manually switch to the closer AP in your setup?

I'm not currently using my EX8000. I'm running an orbi setup because it did allow me to run wired backhaul with mesh functions.

I haven't seen any news or testing to imply that they're going to be letting the ex8000 work as a mesh extender when running with a wired backhaul. the only devices I know that allow it for netgear consumer are the orbi line of devices.
