Wifi extender AX1800 power light stays red

Hello,
I just got this extender. It worked the first time I plugged it in. I changed the location for better connection. Now the light stays red. Pressing the reset button gives no response. Installing the Night Hawk app as described on the installation instructions didn't change the situation. Still no signal. How do I get wifi in my room?
Cheers,
Nina

Re: Wifi extender AX1800 power light stays red

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the WiFi Extender products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with WiFi Extender (EA and EAX Series) products. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

Re: Wifi extender AX1800 power light stays red

the AX1800 is a speed, not a model. and they make several models that look like that.

but the power light a steady amber tends to indicate a boot failure or corrupt firmware failure issue.

You can try recoving it with tftp or nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10

and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9DLrLQrpaw

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash
https://github.com/jclehner/nmrpflash

Current setup: CM2000-> RBKE963B-> Trendnet TEG-S380-> GS716T-> pi-hole
also in AP setup: RAXE500->EAX80
1.4gig download/50mbps upload from Xfinity
