EX6100 or EX6100v2? Look at the product label.
What, exactly, does "netgear genie" mean to you? Ever helpful,
Netgear uses the name "Genie" for more than one thing. Netgear routers
have a web-browser interface called "Genie", and Netgear offers
application programs for various computers/tablets/phones, which are
also called "Genie". (I'd stick with the web-browser interface.)
Whether any of that applies to an extender is a different question.
If you're looking for product-relevant information, then there's a
forum for extenders:

"tried WPS" is not a very detailed description of what you did.
"dosnt work" is not a very detailed description of what happened when
you did whatever you did. Neither is a useful problem description. It
does not say what you did. It does not say what happened when you did
it. As usual, showing actual actions with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

Here's a radical idea: Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your
model number, and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read.
Further reading might also be helpful.

I'd do a settings reset before doing anything else. Look for
"Factory Default Settings" or "Reset" in the User Manual.

Re: cannot access router
like I said its a EX6100 Wifi range extender.
The router link LED is solid green
the client lint LED is solid green
when I push the WPS on the extender then the WPS on the router, the LED on the extender flashes but never goes solid.
My idea of the genie is it a password interface between the router and extender??

Re: cannot access router
What are you trying to get this extender to talk to?
I assume that you want to run it in extender moade rather than ASP mode.
I assume also that you reset the EX6100 before you tried to use it? It may have some settings left over from the previous owner.

Re: cannot access router
yes ive tried reseting the extender.
im trying to connect to Huawei router model number HG659B.
I just thouhght if the extender is not locking in via WPS you need netgear genie to login through the router security.
I think if I could get to netgear genie the problem would be resolved.
I cant create an account without purchacing info???

You don't need an "account" to use the Netgear Genie.
Then again, what do you mean by the "Netgear genie"? It comes in several flavours.

I don't know what that means. (Where did you get this idea?)

Still not clear.
Did you try reading the EX6100 User Manual? Does it mention "genie"
anywhere? Did you try following the instructions which are provided
there, rather than trying to follow your "My idea of the genie"?
