How are you trying to connect to this thing?
Past messages don't tell us if it is a mobile device or a PC.
All we have is "Every device i try to connect to the 2gext network says unable to join."
Also, beyond saying "couldn't connect" we know nothing about the error messages that you see on whatever it is you are using.

Ok lets see. My desktop will connect to the 5gext which im using now. It will not connect to the 2gext even though ive entered the correct password. The desktop will say unable to join when trying to connect to the 2gext(no error code is being shown). Same with my iphonexr it will connect to the 5gext but not the 2gext. Unable to join is the only that the iphone will say when trying to join the 2gext. My ps4 and samsung tv both will not connect to the 2gext when trying to join. There is no 5gext option showing on the ps4 and samsung tv. I have entered the correct password I can assure you but can not join to the 2gext on any device that I have tried.

What router are you connecting it to?

I'm connecting to a new router that centurylink provided to me(at my expense). On the router there is no name brand it just has the centurylink name and logo on the bottom. The router has a serial number, mac, model number and all that. Centurylink contacted me and told me the router that i'm using is going bad so I need to upgrade to a newer router. The first router they provided to me also had centurylink name and logo on it. The netgear nighthawk ac1900 model: ex7000 connected to the first router with wps easy and fast. So ever since centurylink told me to upgrade to the new router the nighthawk ac1900 model: ex7000 will connect to the new router but I can only use the 5gext and not the 2gext. I dont know if that info will help but there is no name brand on the router just centrurylink.

If you have put a different router in front of the extender, have you reset the ex7000 and set it up "as new"?
Maybe it remembers some dodgy setting from the past.
You said you did that, but it might be worth trying again. This time, as plemans suggested, try going in without using WPS.

Why do ISPs go put of their way to make life difficult for customers?
Another thought. You said earlier:
All devices will only connect to the 5gext.
It might be wroth starting at the client end. Tell them to forget their connection to the extender and set up the link from scratch. Maybe they were looking for a MAC address for some other charactrist8c from the old setup.
Wifi is a two-way process that involves both transmitter and receiver.
