netgear nighthawk ex7700 - slows down and how do you get it to use 5 Ghz for the up link?
Two issues.
1. The unit occasionally starts to go slow. Speeds start dropping over time and then after, perhaps a few weeks, it slows to a crawl and needs a reboot.
2. It seems to default to the 2.4 G speeds for the uplink channel. Can I force this to the 5G for better throughput?

You can.
Factory reset it.
When you're going through the reinstall process using the installation assistant, uncheck the "extend 2.4ghz signal".
It'll still let you use the 2.4ghz band but it won't function as a failover for the 5ghz.
Current setup: CM2000-> RBKE963B-> Trendnet TEG-S380-> GS716T-> pi-hole
also in AP setup: RAXE500->EAX80
1.4gig download/50mbps upload from Xfinity
