NGear CG3000D

I have the above listed wireless router and I have 3 X-Boxes hooked up (hard wired).

I can only obtain a open NAT on one and the other two are strict.

I did enable the UPnP.

The Cbl company is checking into it but you know how that goes.

I do not have a static IP but I could make the X-Boxes static if that would help. But one problem, I was looking @ the port forwarding and I can only ad the X-Box numbered ports for one X-Box. This unit does not allow me to add more/duplicate the IP's even though the ending numbers are different.

The main thing is to get the Router OPEN, not sure why it will only let one open.

One more thing, whoever signs on first (w/the X-Box) gets the OPEN port or
?? then the other two are strict.

I looked in the ADMIN section of the router and can not find a enable tab/box for this feature. I can only ENABLE the UPnP.

Thanks again for the help,
Jim

Re: NGear CG3000D

usually multiple xbox will not work behind the router.

your few options are to get static IP from your cable company and assign to xbox but I don't CG3000D will not help either.

you will need like below

cable modem <---> switch <---> standard wireless router.

behind the switch you will have to hook up xboxes.

if you have 3 xbox and router for rest of pc etc, you will need 4 public IP from your ISP

Re: NGear CG3000D

We were talking about a static IP but Charter wants a business plan, I'm trying to work it out.

Only other way is each single line into the different rooms, = $$.

I have 65megs/mbps I guess it's called of service and they just dropped off the CG3000 tonight due to the UBEE router messing up. But, w/the UBEE router, we were OPEN and MODERATE, usually never strict. HUM.

If I get a switch (which one) and hook the X-boxes to that, then the PC's to the router after the switch, right? What will that do? Make it feed off the modem and not the router, right.

I did have a modem and then my NetGear Range router at one time, worked well, but then the X-boxes just arrived w/the kids from college, Smiley Happy

Maybe I need to go back to that set up.

So you are saying I need a IP for each Box and then for the house PC's/Wireless PC's,right?

Sorry if it's confusing, been at this most of the day.

Thanks again,

Re: NGear CG3000D

3 public IP for xbox
1 public IP for the router

=4 public IP..

ANYTHING behind the switch will behind needs static IP (ISP/public IP) per shown diagram I made in this case. ALL the pc are BEHIND the router so they are PRIVATE IP that router is release NON routable IP so don't worry about it

Re: NGear CG3000D

Thank you.
Charter came out a few minutes ago and went into the router again. 192...RGServices etc. MOS for the user and disabled the firewall.

No change so they did talk about a modem/switch so we will see what they offer before I buy a switch.

Any recommendations on a good switch to buy?

Re: NGear CG3000D

not really. any 10/100 switch will be fine as long as your internet is lower than 100Mbps speed

Re: NGear CG3000D

Thank you.

One more question.

Will having the firewall disabled on the router hurt anything? Not sure if I like that Idea.

I know anytime a firewall is disabled it could have an effect. I do have protection on the PC's though.

Thanks again,
Jim

P.S. I did tell them that NetGear has routers for X-box etc. I can't remember where I saw it, but there was a list of like 8 different routers.

I mentioned it to the tech but we will see. I'm sure they won't go buy one just for me.

Re: NGear CG3000D

If you are still suing CG for time being that I would turn the firewall back on Cdxx unit until you change whole setups

Re: NGear CG3000D

They left and left it OFF.

I know the user is MOS but can't remember the P-word he put in, it was changeme or something like that. He didn't tell me.

I guess I'll be alright.

Re: NGear CG3000D

You might able to rest the unit and may call comeback like it should be but you may want to call their support and just have them walk you through Smiley Happy
