Modem router wouldn't turn off after being powered off then blew fuse
Got back from a week away today, always power off & unplug the pc including our 5yr old netgear DGND3300v2 Range Max dual band wireless N modem router when away, done a dozen times before, no problem. Today however no lights at all, nothing, pc etc though all fine.
Tried resetting nothing, unplugged all cables but power, and did a reset and it did slowly start up, two minutes after I got the internet the fuse for the downstairs sockets, that the router was in, blew.
The router was working ok until I switched it off a week ago, occasionally a bit slow, dropping connection but can't understand what's going on any ideas? Do I need a new modem router and if so any recommendations?
Many Thanks
Karen

Maybe the router's transformer is bust.
If you have an old one lying around, try that.
A generic transformer with the right volts, amps and polarity should work.
