The Picture:
* Basement/Home office: Xfinity wireless router/cable modem combination
* Main floor: WNDR3700v4 (connected via hardwire Cat5 to Xfinity) Same SSID & Channels
* Bedroom (2nd floor) - I would like to use my older WNDR3700v1 as a wireless relay (or is it "Access Point")?
Ok, so I want to have wireless devices on the 2nd floor be able to connect to the WNDR3700v1 and have it relay WIRELESSLY to the v4 on the main floor.
The WNDR3700v4 firmware (V1.0.2.78) only shows a connected [wired] " Access Point Mode" in the user interface.
Is this possible?
Thanks,
-PH

I just wanted to cicle back and let everyone know I neded up getting a pair of the Netgear PowerLine1200's for my delema and they appear to be working well. One is plugged in near the Xfinity cable modem/router and the other on the top (bedroom) floor where it's connected to my WNDR3700v1. Signal coverage and bandwidth is fine.
Thanks all,
-PH

Re: WNDR3700v1 and WNDR3700v4
You could use lan over power or just run a another lan cable which ever is the best way for you from the basement to the second floor and yes you maybe to use the wndr3700v1 as a access point for the second floor.

Re: WNDR3700v1 and WNDR3700v4
Thanks for the quick reply. I guess my question is, Is there a way for the 2nd floor router (the v1) to be TOTALLY wireless, and not run a wire up to the 2nd floor?
Thanks again,

Re: WNDR3700v1 and WNDR3700v4
Possibly by wifi extenders you would have play with positions in your home for the best coverage of you second floor or lan over power adaptors to use your wndr3700v1 two possible answers only the cost of doing it is your limit.

Glad to hear that the wifi extenders worked.
