WNR614 N300 disconnects while lights stay on

I have been using WNR614 N300 wirless router for a few months now. My laptop gets disconnected from internet once or twice a day, even though the router's green lights indicating wireless transmission continue to stay on. The laptop stays connected to the wireless network, but not to the internet. Switching off and restarting the router resolves the issue.
Please clarify why the router keeps disconnecting and how it can be resolved.

Welcome to the community, @Sid_Selvam
It maybe due to interference.
Try to change channel on the router.
See page 34 of the manual on how to change the channel.

Re: WNR614 N300 disconnects while lights stay on
Thanks Elaine. Tried the channel change. It shows some improvement and the disconnects are much less frequent. But the connection seems unstable at times. Anyway, thanks for your input!

You're welcome.
You may try to relocate the router or better yet upgrade your router.

Re: WNR614 N300 disconnects while lights stay on
Hi,
I am another user of the same product facing the same problem. Changing the channel did not help much, i.e., the frequency of internet disconnections remain more or less the same as before. I also see that my router is indeed running the same latest firmware version as on your website.
I do not encounter this problem when I am on LAN. My router is less than an year old ( about 10 months now).
Router Firmware VersionV1.1.0.32_1.0.
Thanks,

Re: WNR614 N300 disconnects while lights stay on
Has there been any changes in your network? Did you add any other wireless devices?
What wireless devices you have in your network?
Avoid other wireless devices that may cause interference such as baby monitors, microwave ovens, cordless phones, etc.

Re: WNR614 N300 disconnects while lights stay on
Hi Elaine,
Thanks for your response.
I am not using any other wireless devices on my network. ( i.e., baby monitors, microwave ovens, cordless phones etc).
Apart from my laptop, 2 mobiles connected to the same Wifi AP.

Re: WNR614 N300 disconnects while lights stay on
How far are your devices from the router?
It might the distance.
You may also see the link below.
Troubleshooting intermittent wireless or dropped Wi-Fi connections
If that didn't help, it could be that the wireless portion of the router is slowly degrading and it might be time to get a new one.

Re: WNR614 N300 disconnects while lights stay on
Hi,
Thanks for the link. I would try the fix Fragmentation Length and CTS/RTS Threshold values to 2304. Hope it works.
I am not happy to downgrade the link speed or replace the router for a software bug. I have earlier used Huawei and DLink routers for more than a decade without an issue. It is indeed disappointing to replace Netgear wifi router every 10 months. Definitely, I would dissuage any of my friends from using one.
Hope your product software quality gets better so that everyone benefits from it.
