recently I have got my XR500 with DumaOS.
I discovered an issue, I am using fiber connection that requires VLAN tagging on WAN to get the internet working.
when I put my fiber ONT in full bridge, set up the VLAN tag on the XR500 and configure the PPPoE connection, the QoS upload speed limit feature does not work at all, I mean that I limit the upload and download sliders to 70%, the download is limited okay but the upload is still giving full speed on speedtest.net and dslreports.com and buffering like hell. I am on last firmware, tried rebooting the router and factory defaults, no use.
I figured out that QoS functioning properly only if I set my connection to anything other than PPPoE, which means not to put my ONT in bridge mode and connect the XR500 to it for getting local IP which will cause double NAT issue.
thanks in advance !
On some routers like the last one I had, I was able to name my router so that I could then just type the name of it in my internet browser's address bar and go to my router's setup page. I have tried looking on this router and thought I found where to do that (I did change my device name), but I am not able to access my router by the device name. Is this something that is possible with this router?
Basically I am wanting to know if I can assign a name like 'Monkey' and access the router my typing 'monkey' into my browser instead of routerlogin.net.
I propose to the moderators, a fixed topic only for the firmware. When leaving new firmware, say what has improved, and leave room for users to report problems encountered and propose improvements.
Thanks for listening!!!!!
After updating firmware to 18.104.22.168 I am unable to get more than 200Mb down even after a factory reset with a killer E2400 gigabit ethernet controller and cat6 cables less than 2 weeks old. On my iphone 8 plus with 5ghz wifi I am getting 650Mb down. My modem is a netgear cm1000. I think I may have to downgrade the firmware.....

Was not the router. Bypassed directly to modem same speed issue. Shortly after reconnecting the router the speeds are back to normal now.
I just bought my XR500 yesterday and set it up last night. I have anti-bufferbloat set to "When High Priority Traffic Detected" and the sliders each at 70% as recommended in the dashboard help and in other posts I've found here.
My normal speeds are around 60mb down and 5-6mb up. With the sliders set to 70%, it shows 42mb down and around 4mb up. When I run a speed test from my non-console devices--I've tried from a laptop, iPad, and iPhone--the test results show the speeds at almost exactly what the dashboard is showing they would be with bufferbloat enabled (the 42mb down and 4mb up), so it appears it's kicking in even when there is no high priority traffic. Shouldn't it only apply when I'm gaming when set to auto-detect? Maybe I'm confused about how it's supposed to work.
FWIW, I'm running the latest firmware.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and see if the red LED for detected traffic is there. If not do a speed test right then, still lower speeds?
Hello there came a news that malware called VPNFiter infected routers in 54 countries and some brands including netgear appears as affected.
I wonder if netgear is aware of the fact?
Kinda new to this. Quick question. If I'm running a VPN connection via my router, is there a possibility to check my ping numbers for the lobby that I'm joining via the Geolocation R-app?
My Xbox and PS4 are wired and all other devices (and handful of iPads, iPhones, and Apple TVs) are wireless and I’d rather not have the geo-filter affect those devices. Is that possible?
I have the NIghthawks XR500 router. When I go into my Geo-Filter I have a certain distance set for my radius (1000 miles) that I like to keep it at and have it in filtering mode. I have a few friends that live outside of that radius so what I did is I temporarily increased the radius so they can join me. Once they did I added them to my "allowed" list. After that I set the radius back to what I originally had it at which would put them back to being outside of my Geo-Filter radius. However because they were added to my "allowed" list they are able to stay connected to me that day. Once we stop playing and try to play again on a different day they can no longer join me even though they still show on my "allowed" list. I have to increase my radius once again so they can join and then I can reduce the distance and they remain connected. I have to that each different day that we try to join up. I though once they are on my allowed list they can join me anytime, any day. That is not the case. Once again each different day I have to go through the same process all over again. Does anybody know if that is normal? Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Then invite them to a party or game lobby, whatever shows up will be them, ping them and then add them. You should then be able to change to Filtering Mode and be able to connect with them.
