404 error
1 TopicEX6150 Getting a 404 Error at the End of Set Up
I recently purchased an EX6150 WiFi extender and went through the original configuration a couple of times successfully, but then checked and found that there was updated firmware available. So I updated the firmware and now at the last step of the configuration I am getting a 404 error, File or Directory not found. It was at this point that I noticed the url that it was trying to open was incorrect. Instead to going to http://mywifiext.NET/wifiSettings.html?resp_session=1342479471 (note the .NET in all caps that I used for emphasis) it was trying to go to http://mywifiext.COM/wifiSettings.html?resp_session=1342479471. Clearly, someone made a typo when they were setting the strings for the URL as it should be .net and not .com. I contacted technical support to report the issue, but all that they would tell me was that the 404 error is common and I should not worry about it. I explained that, yes, my extender was working just fine, but that I wanted to report the issue so that it could be corrected. After much back and forth, she agreed to notify a senior-level engineer, but it sounded like she just said that to appease me. So, I thought that I'd make a post here in the hopes that someone else at Netgear would take notice and try to fix the problem. I'm just trying to make the process go more smoothly for the next user of the device, you know? The problem occurs on the last screen of the setup program where it tells you to connect your devices to the network and then you must click a checkbox to enable the continue button. Once you hit the continue button, it tries to go to the invalid address as listed above.Solved6.6KViews1like6Comments
